Iquitos, also called the "Pearl of the Amazon", is located on the left bank of the Amazon River and is one of the entrances to the Amazon rainforest. The jungle surrounding the city of Iquitos is inhabited by civilized indigenous communities and the climate is tropical, very hot and humid.
